08/02/2020, Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) had a new professor. Ir Sarjito MT PhD, who is also The Vice Rector 2 UMS earned the title of professor. He was inaugurated by the Rector of UMS, Prof. Dr. Sofyan Anif at the Djazman Auditorium, Saturday (08/2).
Prof. Sarjito delivered an oration about “The role of computation and numerical simulation for increasing efficiency in energy utilization”. He is a professor in Mechanical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering. Prof. Sarjito is listed as the 30th professor of UMS.
Sarjito is the eldest of 4 children of H. Sunarto and Hj. Juminten. In 2018 Sarjito and his friends conducted a gas emission study by applying a mixture of fuel and bioethanol from cassava when testing a motor vehicle using 30% BE and comparing it with engine performance using Pertalite. The experimental results showed no significant difference in the power between the two. “Emissions from using B30 give a lower percentage of HC. This means that mixing Pertalite with B30 does not show a real decrease of engine performance. This is an efficiency effort that can be carried out forward, ” said Sarjito, who was born in Klaten on November 10, 1962.
He is active in writing various scientific journals with notes on 21 Scopus indexed scientific journals. Hopefully with the addition of new UMS professor, UMS can be better and more useful for the surrounding community widely.
